Mary Davis (Special Olympics)

Mary Davis, is best known as the Chief Executive of The Special Olympics World Games in Dublin, 2003. Mary was awarded a Person of the Year Award in 2003, for her work for this event as well as for her years of service with Special Olympics Ireland. Mary was appointed to the Irish Council of State by Mary McAleese for her second term as President of Ireland, starting in 2004. In 2006 she was made the Chairperson of the newly created Taskforce on Active Citizenship by Taoiseach Bertie Ahern, TD^[1].

She has been awarded an honourary Docorates in Laws by both the University of Limerick^[2] and NUI, Galway^[3].
