Marvel Trading Card Game is a video game for the Nintendo DS, PC, and PlayStation Portable based on Upper Deck Entertainment's Marvel Comics based VS System card game. The game is a virtual card game in which the player chooses to be either a superhero or supervillain in single player mode. The game features an online web community (Marvel Trading Card Game Online) with sponsored contests, tournaments, and other community events. Moderators are regularly there and are very active within the community, promoting events.

The DS version was released May 22, 2007, while the PC version was pushed back. The retail PC version has an additional single player mode which is the exact same version that is on the PSP game as well as on the DS game allowing players to play the campaign on their PC which the free PC client currently does not include.

The DS version of the game allows players to play the single player campaign version and collect all of the Marvel Trading Card Game cards via the single player campaign. The more the player plays the game the more cards they receive which will in turn aid them in local DS games against their opponents. Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection is featured in this game, and local DS play is the only way for players to engage in the multiplayer aspect of the game. ^[1]

There is also a free, online-only client for the PC which is available for download. This client supports online-only play while the full retail version of the game also supports single player campaigns, tutorials, puzzles, etc.

The actual cards for the PC free download used for online play are bought with Marvel Points, which are purchased with real money.

On March 12, 2008, Konami closed the forums on their online site and made all cards available online to all accounts for free.
