Mark Goldstraw (b. 1975) is an English murderer who was convicted on 1 November 2006 of murdering his ex-girlfriend Samantha Carter (aged 16), as well as her sister Patricia (aged 10), brother Marcus (aged 7) and 44-year-old step-father Roddy Hine by setting fire to their house in Cheddleton, Staffordshire in March 2006.
At Goldstraw's trial, it was revealed that he had already been convicted of manslaughter in 2001 after battering his ex-girlfriend to death with a mallet. He was sentenced to seven years in prison but was freed within four.
Goldstraw was sentenced to life imprisonment at his murder trial and the trial judge recommended that he should serve at least 35 years before being considered for parole. This is expected to keep him behind bars until at least 2041 and the age of 66.
