Marianne Aasen Agdestein

Marianne Aasen Agdestein (born 21 February 1967 in Bergen) is a Norwegian politician for the Labour Party.
She was elected to the Norwegian Parliament from Akershus in 2005.
Aasen Agdestein has never held local political office, but chaired the party chapter in Asker from 2003 to 2004.
Outside of politics, she graduated with the cand.polit. degree in 1993 from the University of Oslo. She worked as a journalist in Arbeiderbladet from 1991 to 1993 and Avisenes Nyhetsbyrå from 1993 to 1995. She was then information director of the European Movement Norway from 1998 to 2000, and political advisor for the Labour Party parliamentary group 2001-2005.
She is married to Simen Agdestein, an International Grandmaster of chess.
