Marga van Praag

Marga van Praag (born 14 September 1946, Amsterdam) is a Dutch journalist and television host.
Marga van Praag attended the academy of dramatic art in Amsterdam, and worked for VARA television from 1968 onwards. She was the host of the television programs Fanclub and De Jonge Onderzoekers (The Young Researchers), and did editing work for the shows Twee voor Twaalf (Two to Twelve) and Hoe bestaat het (How does it exist).
In 1981 she started working for the Jeugdjournaal (Youth Journal, NOS) as a reporter, and later as a commentator. She switched to the NOS News in 1996. She has the special task of being the commentator who is in charge of the features: long news themes with a smile and a wink.
In 1995 Marga van Praag had a collision with Willem van Hanegem, a Dutch ex-professional soccerplayer, after she had said in the soccer magazine Voetbal International (Soccer International) that "van Hanegem can not be trusted". During the law suit that followed the court concluded that she had unnecessarily insulted Van Hanegem and she was convicted of paying 2,500 guilders as compensation.
