[edit] Club Career
Wilson initially played as a youth for Manchester United but moved to Portsmouth in 2004. While at Portsmouth he has played regularly for the reserve team and has been loaned out to other clubs on four occasions. In March 2006 he made his English League One debut with Yeovil Town in a 2-0 win away to Walsall. In 2007 he spent two separate spells at Bournemouth, making 26 league appearances and scoring 3 goals. In November 2007 he also had a brief loan spell at Luton Town which was cut short when the club into administration [2][3][4].
[edit] Irish international
Wilson, together with Tony Kane, Michael O'Connor and Darron Gibson, is one of several Northern Irish footballers, involved in an on going dispute between the (Northern) Irish Football Association and the Football Association of (the Republic of) Ireland over international eligibility. The dispute emerged after the Good Friday Agreement allowed people born in Northern Ireland to claim either Republic of Ireland and/or United Kingdom nationality. As a result Wilson has been selected to represent both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland at international level [5][6].
[edit] Northern Ireland
Wilson played for Northern Ireland at under-15 level before switching allegiances to the Republic[7].
[edit] Republic of Ireland
Wilson later represented the Republic of Ireland at various youth levels including under-18 [8], under-19 [9] and under-21 [10].
