Marc Cooper Sullivan (born July 25, 1958 in Quincy, Massachusetts) was a former Major League Baseball player.
Sullivan was a catcher who played for five seasons with the Boston Red Sox. He is the son of former Red Sox General Manager Haywood Sullivan and was selected by his father in the second round of the 1979 amateur draft out of the University of Florida.
Sullivan batted an incredible .417 in his first two seasons with the Red Sox (although it should be noted that this was in 12 at bats). Sullivan was known as a defensive specialist and although he had power (hitting 15 home runs in only 383 minor league at bats in 1984), he managed a lifetime major league batting average of .186. His minor league average was not far behind at .222. He was traded to the Houston Astros in 1987 but never appeared in a game for their major league club.
Because the makers of the NES classic R.B.I. Baseball gave Sullivan incredible pinch-hitting abilities, Sullivan is a fan-favorite for players of the game.
