Many Point Scout Camp is a Boy Scout camp located near Ponsford, Minnesota. Many Point was founded in 1946 by Boots Hanson and Wint Hartman. The camp was constructed by Severt Rasmussen, who was one of the camp's first employees. The camp is owned and operated by Northern Star Council (formerly Viking Council). It takes its name from Many Point Lake, on which the camp owns several miles of shoreline. The camp encompasses approximately 2,400 acres, and borders the 143,000 acre Tamarack National Wildlife Refuge. It is the second largest scout camp in the U.S.

Many Point Lake was named by the Ojibwa tribe as "the Lake with Many Points". Throughout the 19th Century, Many Point was settled by French fur traders and the loggers. In 1946, after the second World War, the area opened as a Boy Scout Camp by Boots Hanson and Wit Hartman. The camp had a fire tower donated in 1994 and a history center was constructed two years later in 1996.

On July 15, 1995, a major windstorm hit Minnesota causing a lot of tree damage to the camp.

The camp is popular for its legend of the yeti. According to the campfire story, the yeti lives in a bog called "Yeti Swamp" near Flintlock.

Many Point also has a Family Camp, where scouting families may stay for the week. Preference is given to those families that have a scout attending Many Point that same week. Family Camp includes a full program led by camp staff, 20 cabins, and 8 tenting sites.

[edit] High Adventure Programs

There is also a high adventure base known as Flintlock that serves Scouters staying at any of the three main program camps. Flintlock offers many activities, including an overnight camp-out on a raft on Many Point Lake named Huck Finn, and a team-building ropes course called C.O.P.E. (Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience). Flintlock also offers programs such as kayaking, sailing, and a tree houses. A Challenge Outpost was added in 2007.

The Many Point Rouser is the camp's rouser which is always sung at the camp's opening and closing campfires. The first time around, the song is sung as a "repeat after me" song until it is later sung three times as "a whole lot faster and a whole lot louder!"
