No free or public domain portrait has been located for André Malraux. One public-domain image, Image:ARC194219.png, does depict Malraux at a much later period of his life and as part of a larger group of people, but it is not suitable as a portrait of him during his most-significant literary period.

The photograph is intended to represent a well known and significant person in French politics and culture. A lack of the photograph would fail to put a face on the Malraux during the crucial period of the 1930s, around the time of his most famous work, Man's Fate. The image illustrates the subject of the article. Similar images to this one are on the Internet, including this one published by the Library of Congress.
