Maine Road F.C. are an English football club, based in the suburb of Chorlton-cum-Hardy, Manchester and currently playing in Division One of the North West Counties Football League. "The Road" are enjoying a healthy rivalry with all clubs, including newcomers, F.C. United of Manchester

The club was founded in 1955 by a group of Manchester City supporters under the name City Supporters Rusholme originally competing as a Sunday league team locally in Manchester. In the late 1960s the club moved its headquarters to the Social Club at Maine Road and changed the name of the club to Maine Road F.C. In 1972 the club joined the Manchester League, seeking a new challenge after winning the Manchester County Sunday Cup and dominating their league.

They enjoyed a lot of success in local county cups, and won the Manchester League four times consecutively. With this domination, the club moved to their present ground in 1980, and upgraded it to become eligible to join the North West Counties Football League in 1986.

The side was promoted to the First Division in 1989, their record home attendance is 3181 for a NWCL Division One match against F.C. United of Manchester on Nov. 4th 2006, although the game was played at Bower Fold, home of Stalybridge Celtic F.C. They have remained in the first division of the NWCFL ever since, excluding a two year period in the Second Division following relegation in 2001-02.

2005 marked Maine Road Football Club's 50th Anniversary. The 2006-07 saw the team finish in the highest position in the club's history, led by manager Ian Walker.
