Maddison Gabriel (born September 16, 1994) is a young Australian fashion model who was controversially chosen in 2007 to serve as the official ambassador of Gold Coast Fashion Week (a Queensland competition for Australian models) at the age of thirteen. Despite her mother's support, Maddison has been viewed by many as too young for modeling, especially due to some of the "revealing" clothing she has worn.[citation needed]
Maddison received support from Australia's leading and also controversial child model, then-twelve-year-old Morgan Featherstone (also from the Gold Coast), who appeared in newspaper articles highlighting her modelling and academic achievements and her wishes to become involved in animal conservation.[citation needed] Some feel that these stories have lent support to Michelle Gabriel's claims that modeling wouldn't be detrimental to her daughter's development.[citation needed]
