Mūza Rubackytė is a Lithuanian pianist, currently residing in Vilnius and Paris and widely known as an eminent interpreter of works ranging from Bach to Liszt and Scriabin.

She holds a number of teaching positions, including Professor at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater, Professor at the S. Rachmaninoff Conservatory in Paris, Professor at the master classes of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, in Messiaen Academy of Music (The Netherlands), she has also been a judge at the Lithuanian International Piano Competition & International F. Liszt Piano Competition (Utrecht).

Mūza Rubackytė has been awarded the Order of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas, Lithuanian Muzes & and the National Artist of Lithuania for her achievements. A native of Lithuania, Mūza Rubackytė was born into a family of musicians. At an age of 7, she made her professional debut in the capital city of Vilnius performing Haydn’s D Major Piano Concerto with the Lithuanian National Chamber Orchestra. Six years later at 13, she won the first prize in the country’s National Young Artists Competition, allowing her admittance to the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, where she studied under Yakov Flier, Mikhail Voskressensky and Bela Davidovitch. During her conservatoire period, she won the first prize in the Tallinn (Estonia) Piano Competition and shortly thereafter was awarded the Conservatory’s first prize in solo piano, chamber music and accompaniment.

Ms. Rubackyté continued garnering awards by winning the first of her three major international piano competitions such as the highly regarded All-Union in St. Petersburg.

During the Soviet period, Mūza Rubackytė was not allowed to travel outside the Communist Block but performed with orchestras of the Baltic states, Ukraine, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Belarus, as well as the great ensembles of Moscow, Vilnius and St. Petersburg.
