IT Hello, I.T. , have you tried turning it off and on again? Is it definitely plugged in?

Lossenelin (aka Byron Clark) (Born April 30, 1986) is a Wikipedian from Papanui, a light-industrial Christchurch suburb that sadly was devastated by the The Cereal Wars. He is currently a student at Canterbury University studying history, sociology and anthropology and he has previously studied Information Technology.
He currently works part time as an electronics salesman. He is here to help make the Internet not suck.

Although I love my userboxes, this page (minus the paragraph above) documents my involvement with the Wikipedia project, if for some odd reason you came to this page looking for information about me, you should prehaps try my LiveJournal profile.
Given I have less time to contribute to Wikipedia these days, and dedicate much more time to articles than my userpage, the information here is usually somewhat dated.

GFDL Photo of Bottle Lake Forest contributed to Wikipedia by me. Also one of my favourite places to go cycling.

My first attempt at article writing was expanding the the article on my home town, which I have now expanded from a stub to a decent sized article. As I'm currently a New Zealand history student I mostly make contributions related to that topic, including edits to the article on Rogernomics and edits to the article on the New Zealand Nuclear Free Zone, Disarmament, and Arms Control Act 1987, and lately the article on Amber Reeves.

As well as historical New Zealand articles I have also worked at editing articles on current/recent events, such as the the Blenheim riot and Hack Circle articles, and the article on the 2006 Progressive Enterprises Dispute, which has been my main contribution to the Wikipedia organised labour project. I have made a few contributions to articles to do with local telivision, such as Eating Media Lunch and Jason Gunn.
I recently joined the Comics Wikiproject and plan to create and expand articles on local comic books, artists and organisations.

I have contributed a few images to Wikipedia and plan to contribute more in the future, a gallery of GFDL images I've uploaded can be seen here. I think having images in articles greatly improves their quality and in the case of free images helps create a free culture. I have uploaded a number of fair use copyright images as well.

[edit] Philosophy

Obviously the fact that this user page exists shows that I am supportive of the Wikipedia project, my opinions of Wikipedia can be seen my article "Information for and by the People" which was published in The Spark.
As the user box to your right informs you, I am an inclusionist, believing that Wikipedia should be a repository of human knowledge and therefore as editors we should not delete potentially usefull information, but should instead improve and expand upon it, I also think that there should be a low criteria of notability for a person or subject to have an article on Wikipedia, as Wikipedia is not bound by the space limits of a paper encyclopedia. I have always known that due to its nature, Wikipedia will never be complete, more recently I have came to understand that this means it will never be perfect, however, we as users should still aim for perfection.
