[edit] Pronunciation and Origin

The correct pronunciation is [lori] (the R is rolled like in Spanish and the s is silent)

But since the Second World War, the pronunciation was like in a nickname of a lizard, LOH-rihs or [loris] dissociating with other communes line Lorrez (loh-REH or LOH-reh) and Loury. The commune never thought of renaming to Lorris-en-Gâtinais or Lorris-la-Coutume.

The commune name comes from the Massif de Lorris, the eastern portion of Foret d'Orléans, the Orléans forest.

The area also has a market, museums, miniature golf, canoeing, tennis, and a Hélicentre.
