Loralai
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Loralai is the principle city of Loralai District in the North East of the Balochistan Province of Pakistan. It was formerly known as Bori. It is inhabitated by Pashtun tribes such as Kakar, Nasir and Luni. Kakars are in majority and Nasirs essentiallty belonged to Afghanistan. Coal mines are present in the area. The terrain of the area is part of the landscape created by Sulaiman Range. A peculiar feature of the soil of the Loralai is that it cannot be used for baked bricks as a baked brick gets brittle. Hence most of the town is made of mud. On the northern side of the town, there exists an old cantonment established before the partition of India by the British Empire to make the defence of India strong against the Russian Empire.
