Yes, I am a vg freak. I love video games, specifically Nintendo ones, and am constantly either playing them, or talking about them at Nintendo's official forums (NSider). I am not naturally skilled at them like some people, but with practice, I can be superior to most. Until recently, I called myself a devoted Nintendo fan. This was such a wide expanse however, that it overwhelmed me. I couldn't keep up with everything. So I devoted myself to my favorite game series, Pokémon.

[edit] Pre-Pokémon

Before I switched to a Pokémon fan, I enjoyed the Mario Kart series, specifically Mario Kart DS. I was fairly good at the game, but I was too inconsistant to compete with the best. There are at least three Pennsylvanians who I know are better than me: NEOBAZZ, STAX09, STEPHENS15 (NSider screennames). I also think of LIGHTNINGKOOPA as my contemporary and friend. I also enjoy the Legend of Zelda series, though I don't consider myself a Zelda freak like some of my friends (*cough*slowreactor*cough*). I was a huge fan of Mario, or so I thought. I have all of the Mario Party games except Mario Party-e, and am currently eagerly awaiting the release of Mario Party 8. I also have Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, Super Mario 64 DS, and more. However, I shouldn't be considered a Mario freak either, since I don't have any of the classics. I just recently bought Super Mario Bros. for my Wii via Wii Shop Channel, but I realize that being a Mario freak is just too complicated for me, especially if I have to spend time recognizing some of my other favorite games, like Pokémon, Star Fox, Pikmin, Zelda, among others. I realized that Nintendo is just too vast a universe for me. I couldn't keep up with its ever-expanding reaches without my mind being stretched and eventually pulled apart. So I decided to stop trying, and reside in a series most dear to me.

I now consider myself devoted to Pokémon. Why did I choose to stick with Pokémon? I'm a collector. I love collecting things. Some of the strangest things I've collected include crayons and pencil tips. With Pokémon, not only can I collect all of the unique creatures, but I can 'upgrade' them with better moves and higher levels. I also enjoy compiling teams of different types of Pokémon, and I usually like to have at least one move of each type in my team to optimize the opportunity of using super-effective moves. My sister and I currently have all the games in the original series except for Gold version. My intended team for Pearl will comprise of Empoleon, Gallade, Giratina, (Skorupi's evolved form), Arcanine, and either Cranidos's evolved form (HM slave) or Staraptor. (I currently have Empoleon, Skorupi's evolved form, Cranidos's evolved form, and Staraptor.) I also have Pokémon Stadium, Pokémon Colosseum, Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team.

I am a very logical person, and I enjoy thinking very hard about disputed topics during my free time. My screenname comes from my favorite philosopher, John Locke, whose name was used as a pseudonym in my favorite book series, Ender's Game.

I try to stay out of fights involving this topic because this topic shouldn't exist, and I don't want to fan the flames. I firmly believe that Nintendo isn't at war with Sony and Microsoft, but Sony and Microsoft are at war at Nintendo. Nintendo is on a completely different plane than that of Sony and Microsoft. "We are not battling Sony or Microsoft. Our enemy is consumer indifference to games." --Nintendo President, Satoru Iwata. Nintendo's audience is younger than Sony's and Microsoft's, so fans of Sony and Microsoft can't say that Nintendo 'sucks', because they fail to realize that just because they don't like the games Nintendo puts out doesn't mean that no one else does. Likewise, Nintendo fans can't say that Nintendo's consoles are superior for the same reason.
It may be true that Nintendo's graphics aren't as good as its competitors, but Nintendo fans really don't care about graphics. We like the games, and we have enough imagination to accept the abstract images instead of having everything put in front of us.
Some (many of my 'friends') say that Nintendo games are just megapixels going back and forth, but I see it as a work of art.

I believe that if you can do something without altering the game's programming, then it is legit. Snaking is especially so, since it is just the use of a non-disputed technique (Mini-Turbo).
