[edit] Pictures

I like the pictures. Is there any prescedent or rule about this? —ScouterSig 05:45, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

I don't know. Someone had added one and I liked it as well. I looked for rules and saw nothing against it. Acidskater 06:06, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Adding Brothers

I know it's tempting to add brothers who have done great things but please refrain from this. When adding a brother to the list try to follow the Notability rules. I hate deleting brothers from the list but we can't have anyone and everyone who is a Sig on the list. Acidskater 13:16, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Notable Sweethearts

I know that Judy Garland is a sweetheart and I am sure there are multiple other notable sweethearts, but wasn't sure if anyone knew of any or even had sources for them(I do for Garland). If we can compile a decent sized list(5+) then it might be worth adding a section. Acidskater 10:00, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Dr. Nick Riviera

I couldn't find a single primary source showing he is a Sigma Chi. The best thing I could find was this video, but that doesn't prove he is a Sig, it just shows he was at a Sigma Chi party. Acidskater 01:47, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Page name change

Why was this page moved? The current name could possibly include 200,000 names! I thought that this was just for 'notable,' 'famous,' or otherwise 'distinguishable' members to keep it encyclopedic. —ScouterSig 14:54, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Jwmarriottjr.jpg

Resolved. Removed image from list. One line listing doesn't qualify as critical commentary needed for fair use. —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 06:09, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

Image:Jwmarriottjr.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:57, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Brian Dennehy

Brian Dennehy was on the Sigma Chi category before it was deleted, but I am unsure if he was initiated at Columbia or Yale, since he attended both. Perhaps someone else knows. —ScouterSig 19:37, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fictional members

It appears Steve Canyon was a Sigma Chi member--or so the Sunday strip from April 11, 1948 suggests. His badge is quite clearly reproduced in the strip. Was Milt Caniff also a member? Tjarrett (talk) 00:29, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

Caniff was a member, and drew pictures for Sigma Chi publications for years. I don't think that Steve Canyon merits listing; thanks for the link. —ScouterSig 00:48, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Jon A. Gallinetti

Alright, this seriously needs to come to an end. I respect the man as my brother and a great leader, but he is not notable enough to be put in this list. He WAS the head of the Joint War Fighting Center, which I might add isn't notable enough to have its own article. There are a very limited amount of secondary sources which mention him, and most of the articles I found were about some memorial service which involved Galinetti or when the military bought the iRobot. The following are guidelines which will help you in figuring out if people are notable enough, visit WP:NOTE, WP:NOT, and WP:V. Acidskater (talk) 18:29, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

I'm sorry but I will not let this rest under the current premise. He IS the current commander of the joint warfighting center. His other accomplishments are: chief of staff for Combined Joint Task Force 7 in Iraq, deputy commander of the Marine Forces Reserve, assist wing commander of the Second Marine Air Wing, commander of Marine Corps Bases Western Area and commanding general of Marine Corps Air Station, Miramar, Calif. Feel free to pick whichever you find to be most "notable" I think his leading joint task force 7 in Iraq is pretty cool personally... I don't know all the specifics but I think he was leading the ground troups in operation Iraqi freedom... I'll try and find more sources on that. The one thing you do have right is sources on him are limited and hard to find... He is as notable as Major General Silas R. Johnson or Brigadier General Randall C. Gelwix, two who happily reside unchallenged on the page... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 161.45.28.51 (talk) 22:39, 20 May 2008 (UTC) http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/library/news/2004/04/mil-040401-mcn03.htm —Preceding unsigned comment added by 161.45.28.51 (talk) 22:49, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
