[edit] Is the Macropaedia copyrighted?
(I'm pretty sure the answer is "yes".) If its contents are copyrighted, then this list, and its sibling List of 1974 Macropædia articles, are WP:COPYVIO, just as much as American Film Institute's 50 Greatest Screen Legends or Category:Fortunes Top 100 Places to Work in America (100 Best Places to Work in America). - The Macropædia is definitely copyrighted. However, these article titles are all drawn from the Tables of Contents. My understanding has been that Tables of Contents can be listed without fear of copyright violation, as is done by many libraries. According to this memo, this practice is legal, since it has not been considered by the courts. If you know of a more recent reference that says otherwise, please let me know and I will be happy both to learn better and to take down the list. - Thanks for your kind note, Datacharge! I did indeed type it in by hand; with only 699 articles, it wasn't that hard. Not all of the columns are filled in, though, because I got distracted. :( Someday I'll finish it off, but not before I finish typing in my Aristotle and Einstein translations at Wikisource. [edit] Grouping Macropedia articles by subject
I've categorized the Macropedia articles by subject matter. By sorting the list in User:Palaeovia/Macropedia by "Category", one can gain certain insights into the depth of coverage of certain topics in the Macropedia. Palaeovia 04:38, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
