[edit] Series 2 details

Series 2 of Torchwood was filmed from April to November 2007 for broadcast starting on 16 January 2008.[5] It premiered in the US on the BBC America channel on Saturday January 26, 2008.[6] Due to audience demand, younger fans have the opportunity to watch an edited pre-watershed repeat, aired the next day at an earlier time.

Recurring guest stars in the second series have included returning Doctor Who cast member Freema Agyeman as Martha Jones for three episodes (from "Reset" to "A Day in the Death"), and American actor and Buffy star James Marsters as villain Captain John Hart in the series premiere and its final two episodes. Episodic guest stars have included New Zealand-born US TV actor Alan Dale (Neighbours, The O.C., Lost, Ugly Betty) as Aaron Copley ("Reset"),[7] and British actors Richard Briers (The Good Life, Monarch of the Glen) as Parker ("A Day in the Death"),[8] theatrical actress Nikki Amuka-Bird as Beth ("Sleeper"), Bryan Dick as Adam, Nerys Hughes (The Liver Birds) as Brenda Williams ("Something Borrowed"),[8] and Ruth Jones (Little Britain, Gavin and Stacey) as Nikki Bevan ("Adrift").[8][9] Casting call sites also lists a number of other actors who successfully auditioned for roles in Torchwood series 2.[10]

[edit] Series 3 (2009)

Executive producer Russell T. Davies has confirmed that a third series is in planning and pre-production stages, all but officially commissioned, pending the ratings of the second series.[11] In an interview with Digital Spy, James Marsters hinted he would be back filming for Torchwood.[12] TV Guide confirms that John Barrowman has signed up for Series 3, which is currently set to be a mini-series of 5 episodes over one week, set to air in spring 2009, with a possibility of more episodes.[13]

[edit] Notes

  • ^a  Starting with "Reset", new episodes aired on BBC Three after the previous episode aired on BBC Two. Ratings for both the original BBC Three airing, and BBC Two repeat (aired one week later) are shown.
  • ^b  "Exit Wounds" premiered on BBC Two exclusively; it was not shown prior on BBC Three.
