List of National Historic Landmarks in Missouri

The U.S. state of Missouri has 37 National Historic Landmarks, recognized by the United States government for their historical significance. Landmarks are designated by the United States Secretary of the Interior because they are:

  • Places where prominent persons lived or worked;
  • Icons of ideals that shaped the nation;
  • Outstanding examples of design or construction;
  • Places characterizing a way of life; or
  • Archeological sites able to yield information.

These are distributed across 14 of Missouri's 114 counties plus a concentration of 15 NHLs in the state's one independent city of St. Louis.
