Eight versions of DrumMania have been released in Japan for the PlayStation 2 game console. They are usually partnered up with their GuitarFreaks counterpart in-game, allowing multiplayer compatibility. The game supports Yamaha's line of DTX drums, as well as the PS2 DualShock controller and Konami's own drum controller.

Nine versions of GF have been released for Sony's PlayStation and PlayStation 2 consoles. All but the first two editions are bundled with their DrumMania counterpart, allowing multiplayer gameplay functionality where one player plays the guitar and the other plays the drum part to the same song simultaneously.

GuitarFreaks is currently developed and released in dedicated arcade cabinets, and more recently, for the PlayStation 2. Some versions of the game have also been localized and released for Korea and other Asian countries.

While primarily distributed to the Japanese market, GuitarFreaks was released in limited numbers in US arcades and in other countries. Nine home versions have been released for the PlayStation and PlayStation 2 game consoles from Sony.
