Line of succession to the Nepalese throne
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The line of succession to the Nepalese throne was determined by equal primogeniture. This meant that the eldest child of the monarch, regardless of gender inherited the throne. In 2006 the Nepalese government proposed adopting equal primogeniture.[1] The House of Representatives subsequently approved the bill. As per the amended law, a Special Committee under the Prime Minister was to take decisions to the accession to the throne, which had to be passed by the parliament. [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8]
The line of succession immediately before the abolition of the monarchy was as follows:
- Paras, Crown Prince of Nepal (born 1971)
- Prince Hridayendra of Nepal (born 2002)
- Princess Purnika of Nepal (born 2000)
- Princess Kritika of Nepal (born 2003)
- Princess Prerana of Nepal (born 1978)
