[edit] Career

[edit] Live-action appearances

Gary was one of the most popular voice-over artists in the modern era of animation. While viewers might not have remembered her face (in fact, she only appeared in two live-action films, 1977's Journey To Nowhere and 1980's Cruising with Al Pacino), they do remember her youthful voice.

[edit] Hanna-Barbera and Disney

Among Gary's credits were Hanna-Barbera's Scooby-Doo and The Smurfs series, Disney's Darkwing Duck, DuckTales and TaleSpin, Batman: The Animated Series, and three films in The Land Before Time series.

She also did voice-overs for many live-action films and television series. She also voiced Chromia in the Transformers series.

[edit] Video games

She also provided the voices of the Oracle, Red Chess Queen, Mother Ghost, and Queen Allaria in the adventure video game King's Quest VI: Heir Today, Gone Tomorrow.

[edit] Filmation

But the bulk of Gary's work was with the Filmation studio. Both she and good friend Ed Asner contributed to many Filmation projects, and she played the lead character in Filmation's Web Woman. Possibly her most recognised work is on the Filmation He-Man and the Masters of the Universe and sister She-Ra: Princess of Power cartoon series (she simultaneously contributed the voices of Teela, Evil-Lyn, the Sorceress of Castle Grayskull, Queen Marlena, Madame Razz, Glimmer, Shadow Weaver, Scorpia, and Sweet Bee, as well as many 'one-off' characters, particularly of young boys) and feature film sequels such as Happily Ever After and The Secret of the Sword. The character of He-Man's Teela is arguably her most recognised work.

For some of her work, including some episodes of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, she is incorrectly credited as Linda Gray.

[edit] Death

Gary died of brain cancer at age 50.
