"Life" is a popular song recorded by the British pop and soul singer Des'ree. It was the third single from her third album Supernatural and was released on June 2, 1998. This song remains the biggest Des'ree's hit.
The song peaked at #1 in Austria, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain.
On an "innocuous tone", this playful song mixes "stories about superstitions, phobias and travels around the world". The melody is "upbeat and jubilant"[1].
In the music video, the singer is sitting on the back seat of a convertible car, led by a driver. The singer, initially sheltered from the sun by a black umbrella, which then flies away, is singing the song in the car travelling in the midst of cotton fields, in a landscape similar to that of Latin America. Above the car spends an airplane, and instead of throwing pesticides in the fields, it throws a multitude of butterflies. The video was directed by the director Mike Lipscombe.
