Li hing mui
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Li hing mui is salty dried plum. It can be found in Hawaiian and Asian markets. It has a strong, distinctive flavor, and is often said to be an acquired taste for many. Originally from Vietnam, the name "Li Hing Mui" then was originated by Yick Lung Company which introduced the plum to Hawaii in the early 1900s.
The dark red powder that covers the dried plum is also used to flavor other dried fruits like apricots and mango. It is often combined with many candies such as gummy bears and gummy worms. Li hing powder is even used in cocktails.
