My Name is Lewis Collins and I specialise in biology and control of disease vectors, as well as studies of other arthropods and the parasites that may infect them, including bumble bees and molitor beetles. Most of my studies have focussed on the mosquito Anopheles gambiae, the main mosquito responsible for transmitting Malaria in Africa. My interest lies in the evolutionary ecology of insects and how parasites can drive the evolution of insects, as well as how man's behaviour can drive selection of beneficial traits in insect populations, such as those traits that confer resistance to parasites or insecticide resistance, the so called red queen hypothesis.
I developed an article on Wikipedia about adipokinetic hormone and disease vectors (vector (disease)) and I have contributed to pages on the trypanosome Crithidia. I am also a rugby fan and contributed to a page on Leeds Carnegie Winger Anitelia Tuilagi.
