Levy Economics Institute

The Levy Economics Institute of Bard College is located on the campus of Bard College, in Annanadale-on-Hudson, NY. The Institute is housed in Blithewood, a mansion originally designed by an alumnus of the architectural firm of McKim, Mead and White for Andrew Zabriskie in 1899. The mansion was donated to Bard College in 1951 by the Zabriskie[1] family.

The Levy Economics Institute currently has nineteen scholars and over thirty Research Associates. Their research focuses on such issues as, income and wealth distribution, gender equality, monetary policy and financial markets, and immigration and ethnicity and the social structure.[2]
The Institute’s research is published through Strategic Analysis papers, Levy Institute Measure of Economic Well-Being (LIMEW) Papers, policy Notes and Briefs, and numerous Working Papers. The Institute also hosts conferences and seminars.

The Board of Directors includes Leon Botstein, the President of Bard College, Bruce Greenwald and Joseph Stiglitz, both of Columbia University, Lakshman Achuthan, the Managing Director of the Economic Cycle Research Institute, Martin L. Leibowitz, Managing Director of Morgan Stanley, J. Ezra Merkin, the President of the Gabriel Capital Group, William Julius Wilson of Harvard University, [3] and Dimitri B. Papadimitriou, the President of the Institute and the Executive Vice President of Bard College. [4]
