Le Tampon is the fourth-largest commune in the French overseas département of Réunion. It is located on the south-central part of the island of Réunion, adjacent to Saint-Pierre. In the 1999 census, Le Tampon had a population of 60,323. The commune has a land area of 165.43 km² (63.873 sq mi).
In the early twentieth century, the town was the base for the murderer and sorcerer Le Sitarane.
