About Me
I was born in Blackpool, Lancashire, England, on 9th June 1948, making me 29 years old. Educated at Blackpool Grammar School. Having spent more of my sixth form time running my existing business than studying maths and physics, it's not surprising that my A levels results were not good enough to get me into any university worth attending.
Since 1964 or earlier, I have worked as a coin dealer, later adding jewellery. Since 1998, my business has been mainly marketed via the internet. We now have about 20+ websites covering different aspects of coins, gold, diamonds, and jewellery, with over 3,000 pages, and 4,000 images, findable via [www.chards.co.uk]. Strangely enough, I have only recently, June 2003, got around to creating a "Lawrence Chard" personal site [www.lawrencechard.com] as somewhere to place most of my personal opinions about all sorts of diverse subjects.
I think Wikipedia is a wonderful resource, and I hope my few contributions to it will help.
The first time I contributed a page (Gold sovereign), I hadn't much clue how Wikipedia worked. so it wasn't fomatted in the correct style, and I had inserted no links. Half an hour later when I looked back at the newly created page, links had magically appeared, and I can remember thinking what an incredible piece of software must be driving it, I had mistaken artificial intelligence for the real thing.
I must find out how to get images to work.
