Lawrence Palk, 1st Baron Haldon

Lawrence Palk, 1st Baron Haldon (5 January 1818 – 22 March 1883) was a British politician.
Born in London, he was the son of Sir Lawrence Palk, 3rd Baronet and Anna Eleanora Wrey. Palk was educated at Eton College in Berkshire. In 1860, he succeeded to his father's baronetcy. From 1854 to 1868, he was Member of Parliament (MP) for South Devon and from 1868 to 1880 for East Devon. On 29 May 1880 Palk was elevated to the peerage as Baron Haldon, of Haldon in the County of Devon.
On 15 May 1845, he married Maria Harriett Hesketh, daughter of Sir Thomas Henry Hesketh, 4th Baronet in Rufford in Lancashire. They had six children, two daughters and four sons, including his heir Lawrence Palk and Edward Palk.
