Lawaaris is a 1981 Bollywood film directed by Prakash Mehra. The film became famous for its song "Mere Angene Mein, Tumhara Kya Kaam Hai" rendered twice: The first time by a young Alka Yagnik who earned her first Filmfare Nomination as Best Female Playback Singer, and the second time by Amitabh Bachchan, and his version became the top song of the 1980's decade. The film starred Amitabh Bachchan, Amjad Khan, Zeenat Aman and Raakhee Gulzar. The story revolves around an orphan(Lawaaris) who stumbles over reality in his search for his parents. The film became a "superhit" at the box office.[1]. It earned additional Filmfare Nominations as Best Actor (Amitabh Bachchan) and Best Supporting Actor (Suresh Oberoi).[2]
The film was remade into the Telugu film Naa Desam (1982) starring N. T. Rama Rao and Jayasudha.
