Laura Wilson, known as Laura Cunningham (August 28, 1945 in Fort Worth, Texas) is an American photographer best known for her work documenting the creation of Richard Avedon's In the American West portfolio and as the mother of actors Luke, Andrew and Owen Wilson.
Laura Wilson (nee Cunningham) was born in Fort Worth, Texas to parents Jimmy (an engineer, who later became Fort Worth's most prominent engineer) and Laurie Ann Cunningham. She later married Robert Wilson and had three children (all sons) with him: Andrew, Owen and Luke.
Wilson's photographs have appeared in The New York Times Magazine, The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, GQ Magazine, and Texas Monthly. Wilson has also authored four photo books. Wilson's 2003 book, Avedon at Work: In the American West was based on her experiences serving as Richard Avedon’s assistant for six years. The Texas Institute of Letters awarded Wilson the Book of the Year award for Avedon at Work.
