Lasiocampoidea is the superfamily of "lappet moths", containing two families of small to very large moths. Lasiocampidae have a global distribution, whilst Anthelidae ("Australian lappet moths") are found only in Australia and New Zealand. There are about 158 genera. See Lemaire and Minet (1999) for a detailed overview.
The group is closely related to the Bombycoidea and sometimes merged therein.
