Lara Pulver is a British actress, notable for receiving nominations for the 2008 Laurence Olivier Awards.[1] and the 2008 'Whatsonstage' Theatregoers Choice Awards,[2] the later being the only major awards for London theatre that are voted for by audience members. [3]

At the age of 13, Pulver successfully auditioned for the National Youth Music Theatre, a prestigious youth theatre company sponsored by Andrew Lloyd Webber and The Prince's Trust, which she attended between 1994-1998 [4]. In 1997 she won a place at the Doreen Bird College of Performing Arts, one of the UK's foremost performing arts colleges, [5] where she studied dance and musical theatre full time, graduating in 2000. She has been featured as a graduate success story on the College's website[6] and has since worked successfully as an actress, singer and dancer in major producions of West End musicals, including national tours and regional theatre productions. [7]

In 2007, Pulver was nominated for the 2008 Olivier Award for 'Best Actress in a Musical' following her playing the lead role of Lucille Frank in the first West End production of the musical Parade, which was staged at the Donmar Warehouse. The production was directed and choreographed by Rob Ashford and played at the theatre from September 24 to November 24 2007. Reviewer Blanche Marvin said of her that 'despite a rich voice, [she] seemed to sing with shrillness in her higher register but her portrait of Lucille was quite moving'.[8]
