Land Force Western Area

Land Force Western Area is responsible for all Canadian army operations and administration in western Canada from the northern Lakehead region of Ontario to the Pacific Ocean. LFWA is headquartered in Edmonton, Alberta.

1 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group (1CMBG) is based out of CFB Edmonton and comprises of the following Regular Force units:

Also stationed at CFB Edmonton are 408 Tactical Helicopter Squadron and 1 Field Ambulance. Although these two units work closely with 1 CMBG, they are not officially part of the brigade group. CFB/ASU Edmonton is also the home of the Canadian Forces Service Prison and Detention Barracks.
