Lamin Khalifah Fhimah

Al Amin Khalifa Fhimah (Arabic: الأمين خليفة فحيمة) (born April 4, 1956) is a former station manager for Libyan Arab Airlines at Luqa Airport, Malta. He was acquitted on January 31, 2001 of 270 counts of murder in the Pan Am Flight 103 bombing trial by a panel of Scottish judges sitting in a special court at Camp Zeist, Netherlands.
The court established that the bomb which resulted in the destruction of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland on December 21, 1988 was introduced as luggage on board flight KM180 at Luqa airport. Entries in Fhima's personal diary indicated that he may have obtained luggage tags from the airport, which could have been used to ensure that the bomb was transferred onto the PanAm flight. Further evidence to corroborate this theory was not presented, leading the judges to acquit him of the charges. [1]
Fhimah's co-accused, Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed Al Megrahi, was convicted and sentenced to life in prison.
As a fugitive from justice for his alleged role in the Lockerbie attack, on March 23, 1995 the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation(FBI) listed Fhimah as the 442nd person added to the Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list.[2]
Fhimah was born and still lives in Suq el Juma'a, near Tripoli, Libya. He is married with five children.[3]
