[edit] Performing Arts
Lakeview's performing arts programs let students thrive through outlets of expression and creativity, offering theater classes as well as speech and debate.
In the fall, Lakeview performed Neil Simon's Fools, winning second place at the Region 8A One Act Competition. The previous year, Lakeview performed Nunsense, winning the Region 8A One Act Championship, and placing second in state.
[edit] Forensics

[edit] Technology
Lakeview has integrated a broad spectrum of technology into all aspects of its curriculum. Students in the Lower and Middle schools receive technology classes and daily access to technology facilities, while students entering the Upper School are issued laptops. Available technology adds a heightened element of interactivity to the classroom, expanding the possibilities for expression, exploration, and real-world application.
Lakeview’s technology prowess was recently displayed at the Georgia State Technology Fair [1], a statewide competition with technology categories ranging from multimedia graphic design to programming challenge. Out of all of the schools represented from 16 regions, Lakeview won the most awards, a remarkable feat that reflects the high level of strong technology- based learning that goes on at the school.
[edit] Athletics
Lakeview offers a range of athletic opportunities for students all the way from Lower School to Upper School. A participant in the Georgia High School Association, Lakeview offers interscholastic competition in soccer, volleyball, basketball, baseball, football, cross country, tennis and cheerleading.
For the past four years, the Lakeview varsity girls basketball team has competed in the state tournament, and in 2004, reached the final four. In 2004 Lakeview Academy's varsity baseball team won the state championship. In 2006 Lakeview added a junior varsity football program. The first season for the lions football team was entirely JV, and they finished with a 2-4 record with two victories against Banks county and North Oconee. The next year the lions played four Varsity games and three JV games finishing the season undefeated. They plan to move to a full varsity schedule next year.
[edit] In the News
In March 2007, the Lakeview literary team won Class A State Literary Championship for the fourth year in a row, continuing an impressive tradition. In addition, five Lakeview students recently achieved National Merit Finalist status, the first time in the history of the city of Gainesville or Hall County that such a high concentration of NMS Finalists had come from any school, public or private.[2]
