Lakeridge High School is a public high school located in Lake Oswego, Oregon. It was designed by architect John Storrs. Lakeridge opened on September 7, 1971 to more than a thousand students. Many names had been considered for the school, including "The Free People's Learning Center," but "Lakeridge" won out.[citation needed]

Lakeridge High School's location of Lake Oswego is an affluent suburb of Portland, Oregon. The school, on the south side of Oswego Lake, is a rival of the north side's Lake Oswego High School. Lakeridge High School has just over 1,000 students, in grades 9 through 12. It is regarded as one of the top public high schools in the state of Oregon.[citation needed] 93% of Lakeridge graduates report planning to enroll in a 4 year or 2 year college. [2]

[edit] Fight Song

To the music "Roll Along Iowa":

Lakeridge High Strong with pride Blue, gold and white; Champions we remain.

We will see victory, Guess who we are, P-A-C-E-R

We're the best, no contest Prepare to fall We'll defeat you all.

We will prevail, so Stand up and yell for Lakeridge High!

[edit] Remodeling

The remodeling project for Lakeridge High School ran parallel with Lake Oswego High School project. The Lakeridge side of the project was completed slightly ahead of the Lake Oswego side, and students were greeted with a completely new building in fall 2004.

The building roughly kept its old shape, retaining its asymmetry and the circular central hub, dubbed the "donut." The location of the main office was replaced by the history and social sciences wing (D-wing). The old auditorium was also torn down and replaced with a new one, featuring a much more logical placement for stage band performers and updated acoustic systems. The major school sections, the A-wing (Arts), B-wing (Math and Science) and F-wing (English and Foreign Languages) all retained their rough positions but the C-wing was eliminated altogether. The G-wing (PE and Health) also underwent extensive remodeling, including the construction of an entirely new gym (east gym) on the lower level.

All classrooms were rebuilt and outfitted with the latest technology, such as computer screen projectors and SMART Boards. In fact, the only part of the original facility that remains is the upper gym (west gym).
