Lake Highland Preparatory School is a 26-acre private school in Orlando, Florida that was founded in 1970. It is the largest private school in Orlando. Its budget in 2004 was USD $24.6M.[1] The Lake Highland Debate and Forensics Team is also one of the best in the nation, placing students in final rounds at every national tournament last year.[citation needed]

Lake Highland's symphonic band has performed on Royal Caribbean cruises and their marching band performed in the locally televised 2006 St. Patrick's Day Parade in New York City on NBC. The Color Guard received a Suprerior in 2007 MBA. In the past two years the LHP Drama students have competed in the District and State Thespian competition. LHP's Troupe 2449 has brought home 2 Best in Show, 17 Superior awards and 10 Excellent awards in the past two years[citation needed]. The students who moved on to the state competition received 3 Superior awards and 6 Excellent awards[citation needed]. Their past shows include Guys and Dolls, Our Town, Seussical, The Playboy of the Western World, The Sound of Music, and Hello Dolly among others.

Lake Highland's athletics teams are known as the Highlanders. Frank Prendergast serves as the athletic director. The Highlanders compete in the FHSAA; however, different teams compete in different districts of the FHSAA. For example, football competes at the 2B level, while basketball, baseball, softball, and soccer participate in the 3A district. All other sports compete in the 1A district.
