Lacandon Jungle

Tha Lacandon Jungle (Spanish: Selva Lacandona) is a jungle in the state of Chiapas, Mexico. It is home to the Lacandon Maya.
Tours of the jungle are offered from the Lacandon village of Lacanja Chansayab, somewhat near the ruins of Bonampak.
The region is located in the eastern part of the the state of Chiapas, between 16°05' – 17°45' N and 90°25' – 91°45' W, between the Usumacinta River and the Perlas and Lacantún rivers
It is estimated that, as of 2002, two-thirds of the 4.7-million acre jungle had been cut down for pastureland or crops.[1]
