[edit] Bad Science

Lsjzl: Do you really think that the remarks on the science of The Way of Abundance & Power weren't NPOV? You're a grad of that class, aren't you? It's not a matter of whether his version of the big bang etc is true, he sets up a strawman, misrepresents what science says the Big Bang was, and then attacks the misrepresentation.

Actually 10oS, upon re-reading I doubt it met the grounds for Non-NPOV. In fact I think if it needs to be included what you elaborate on should be in there. It's prob. a standard science attack by religions... in the "updated" (not the current one) International Way of Ab and Power class the attacks were taken out. The big bang was explained fairly intellegently but not attacked. Rather it was pointed out to be the prevailing theory and then they pointed out their interpretation of the bible afterwards as "God's view" or something like that...

The reason I included it in the first place was that it illustrated Martindale's "set up the strawman & knock him down" approach to teaching. When WayAP first came out there was a lot of gushing by the Way Corps (who took it first) about how Martindale explained The Big Bang, Continental Drift and God knows what else. Admittedly I have an anti-Martindale bias, but I believe my original comment was instructive.Ten of Swords 01:26, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

The Word is Over The World

"Word Over the World" had been a Way slogan for decades. One Sunday afternoon Martindale announced that it had been accomplished and that The Way would now be entering "the promised land of the prevailing Word", mixing old and new testament imagery.

What the heck is that doing in here?? lol.. I mean if the point is to show how odd he was by making the statement than this has to be expanded on. Whatever the point this either needs to be expanded on or deleted as it adds NOTHING!! ;) Yo TEN Whatup?? (Not saying you added this, just been away for a bit!) Lsjzl 18:42, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Actualy, I did add that section, and yes, it does need to be expanded upon. I started a couple of those subsections and pretty much abandoned them. And welcome back, haven't seen ya in a while. (Why is this section titled "Ha ha"?)

And where were you when a certain editor was trying to make the case that any group that deviates from the mainstream was by definition a cult? I could have used some backup on that one!Ten of Swords 14:02, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
