[edit] County infoboxes
What infoboxes do we use for counties? Could you make sure the Illinois counties all get upgraded at some point, starting with our area? For instance, Whiteside County, Illinois looks like an older infobox, don't we have one more like I have seen on cities and villages? IvoShandor (talk) 03:21, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
- Would the city one work, we could just leave certain parameters blank maybe? I like the one we're using now, and the new maps are king of cool. IvoShandor (talk) 06:52, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
- Either way, if I don't just go ahead, you seem to have been the infobox master in the past so I wouldn't want to usurp said title. :) IvoShandor (talk) 06:56, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

- Glad to see both you and Ivo back and editing. Regarding use of the Geobox for counties, I did some experimenting with this idea back in the fall. I used the Geobox as is and called the "Region" subset which provides all or most of the parameters that currently exist in Template:Infobox U.S. County as well as some new ones. You can see an example of it at User:VerruckteDan/sandbox8. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this example. I think its about time that counties got a revamped infobox and hopefully this is the start of that process. VerruckteDan (talk) 23:04, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Your question
Looks like it transferred, but still needs to be reviewed, not sure why. Also, do you have a "regular" picture of Stillman Creek, we need a non-flooded one to illustrate the lead with. IvoShandor (talk) 02:00, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
- Probably just some sort of glitch with your picture, I am sure it's no big deal. No hurry on the creek, I thought you might have one on hand, so whenever you have time. IvoShandor (talk) 02:40, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Re: Image question
There's absolutely no problem; that's just a stock notice for the en->commons web transfer interface reminding users to properly categorize the image. Since that's already been done, you can safely ignore it. :) east.718 at 02:45, May 7, 2008
[edit] Infobox change
Could you hook up Streator, Illinois with a new infobox please sir? Also, the map in the box on Seneca, Illinois lacks its locater dot. IvoShandor (talk) 12:07, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
- Awesome, thanks man! IvoShandor (talk) 16:56, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Fox River Grove pictures (accident)
However, all of the pictures had been moved to the Commons, which is why I did it. --AEMoreira042281 (talk) 13:25, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Midway Village
Since I mostly focus on Registered Historic Places, probably not, I don't think anything at Midway Village is listed unless Indian Hill Manor and Historic District is related, which I don't think it is. I would like it if you would take a look at List of Registered Historic Places in Scott County, Minnesota and let me know what you thought about it. I'm kinda diggin' it and thinking maybe we should go ahead an implement the style changes to our NRHP lists. I do need some photos still in Rockford but nothing I can't handle at some point unless you have extra time on your trip.IvoShandor (talk) 13:54, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
- Two other things
- 1. We also need articles for all the Illinois River locks and dams (see Illinois Waterway, which are, incidentally, also historic districts. I think we should drop the historic districts from the titles and just use a section in the article about it. I have photos of the Marseilles L&D (not the greatest because I couldn't get close, risk of arrest or some nonsense) and the Starved Rock L&D (there's one in the waterway article).
- 2. Category:Illinois River is pretty sorry. We could use Category:Mississippi River for some ideas but it needs to be populated, probably with a few subcats. Anyway, just some food for though.

- I bet I can make a map. IvoShandor (talk) 09:03, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
- I responded on my page, I am taking a break, my response will have more explanation. --IvoShandor (talk) 12:09, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Hello
I have not talked to you in a while. I made a great discovery at Wikipedia_talk:CHICAGO#Chicago_Daily_News_image_collection_at_Chicago_Historical_Society that might be useful for WP:ILLINOIS. I think many Governors from this era could use good photos.
Also, I don't know if your are familiar with my experiment at WP:LOTM, I wonder if you might consider casting a ballot at User:TonyTheTiger/List of the Day/voting/200806. Voting is very light this month, which is why I am asking.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 00:34, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
- I don't check commons very often and as standards change for fair use claims and licensing tags need to be revised or things would be deleted, I would miss notices. It seems like every week I get a notice on WP that a tag needs to be revised. The latest wrinkle is that the article name needs to be linked in the license ({{Di-missing article links}}).--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 03:18, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] POV
One of the good things about writing about creeks and parks is there is not too much room for POV (although even there it can sneak in). The odd thing with Bedford is he does not revert when people change the term and link (so why put the POV link in there in the first place?). Take care, and let me know what I can do Ruhrfisch ><>°° 03:49, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
- I have an article at FAC and Dincher and I have another one at PR that is nealry ready for FAC. I would be glad to try and help - one problem is that I have a lot of sources for Pennsylvania rivers, but not too many that apply out of state. Stillmans Creek looks like it is more developed and may be easier to expand. Since there are no deadlines on Wikipedia, I will work on it as I can over the next few weeks. Sound OK? Ruhrfisch ><>°° 04:42, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the support at FAC - I will add the dots to the map this weekend. Is there a Stillman Creek Watershed Association? Ruhrfisch ><>°° 14:31, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
- A watershed association is for preservation of the stream and its watershed - several of the creeks I am slowly working on have them (see here, at the bottom) and they are often sources of information on a creek. State parks are on the dot map, will check on adding that too. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 15:33, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Creeks and lakes (contd.)
Thanks for your bringing the list of Illinois protected areas and assoicated redlinks to my attention. I have worked on the list a bit today, as follows: if (a) a lake or other body of water is is fairly small, and (b) the body of water is a major feature of a State protected area. and (c) the article about the protected area mentions and briefly describes the body of water, and (d) even with this description included the protected-area article looks like it will be of "stub" length for a long time to come, then my own impulse is to consolidate the body-of-water information into the protected-area article and make the body-of-water reference a redirect. So I have created some redirects today.
Some people disagree with this consolidationist (what a label!) point of view. If this is important to you let me know what you think. Bigturtle (talk) 22:27, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
Our Illinois DNR is currently suffering from severe budget problems and that may have an effect on their Internet outreach to the general public. Bigturtle (talk) 14:22, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] State park areas
Hi Kranar, the statement is only that (not a table) and is 15 years old (1993). Since Illinois seems to count things like state forests as part of its park system, it is a bit of an apples and oranges comparison. Pennsylvania has quite extensive state forests and and game lands too. I do not know of a list of total park areas by state, but will add as of 1993 to the FL. Thanks and sorry, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 12:09, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
