The Koalisyon ng Nagkakaisang Pilipino or United Opposition (Coalition of United Filipinos) or KNP, was the coalition of the dominant opposition in the Philippines during the 2004 general elections. The KNP was composed of the Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino (Struggle of Democratic Filipinos) or LDP, the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan or PDP-LABAN, and the Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP) of deposed president Joseph Estrada, a former movie star. ^[1]

The leading party of this coalition is the Angara wing of the Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino (Struggle of Democratic Filipinos) or LDP. The LDP split in late 2003 over issues on who is to be their standard bearer. Most of the party followed the lead of the president, Sen. Edgardo Angara especially with the support of the former president Joseph Estrada and former first lady Imelda Marcos. The other major party under this coalition is Estrada's Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP; Party of the Philippine Masses).

The party itself was very liberal, and had the same ideology as the United States Democratic Party, and the Canadian Liberal Party.^{[citation needed]}

The KNP standard bearers in the 2004 Philippines elections were Fernando Poe, Jr. (died December 14, 2004) for president and Sen. Loren Legarda-Leviste for vice-president. Poe, considered as the king of Philippine movies, was a movie actor chosen to challenge President Arroyo in the 2004 elections after a series of "meticulous, diligent, and thorough deliberations" and after studying the character of the nominees", according to former senator Juan Ponce Enrile, head of the KNP nomination committee. Poe was chosen over the other nominees for his, among others, "humility as a person, well-known honesty, integrity in dealing with others, his behavior as a family man, and his capacity to reunify the shattered society." ^[1] After the 2004 elections, the KNP was replaced by the Genuine Opposition as the main opposition coalition.
