KLRA-LP also known as Univision 58 or Univision Arkansas is a series of television stations airing programming from spanish-language television network Univision based in Little Rock. KLRA is owned by locally-based Equity Broadcasting Corporation.
Univision Oklahoma based out of Oklahoma City originally simulcast programming from KLRA and became Univision Arkansas-Oklahoma. In March 2005, Univision Oklahoma separated from Univision Arkansas.
Univision Arkansas aired a daily half-hour newscast "Noticias Univision Arkansas" (Univision Arkansas News) airing Monday through Fridays at 5:00pm and 10:00pm. Previously, sister network Univision Oklahoma aired newscasts of "Noticias Univision Arkansas" (Univision Arkansas News) later "Noticias Univision Arkansas-Oklahoma" (Univision Arkansas-Oklahoma News) before Univision Oklahoma and Univision Arkansas separated. On June 6, 2008, Equity discontinued local newscasts at its six Univision affiliates, including KLRA. [1]
[edit] KLRA callsign history
The KLRA callsign originally belonged to a popular country music AM radio station in Little Rock; it was known for its morning DJ Hal Webber, whose on-air senior-citizen character was called "Brother Hal". Equity commonly uses the callsigns of old Little Rock radio stations for its TV stations; for other examples, see KKYK-DT and KBBL-TV.
