Klepht has entered the English language, along with ciflik and several other terms through academic studies of the Ottoman Empire and Balkan independence movements. It is usually pluralized as if it were an English word by simply adding -s instead of pluralizing it the Greek way. Less common Greek words should be italicized if they are transliterated.

I have gone ahead and changed all the klephtes and kleftes to "klephts." If you feel that we should do an italicized transliteration with the Greek plural -es, then let me know. I don't object, but I thought that we should try to use the most common English spelling and stick with it for consistency.

Thanks for your contributions to the article. Please contribute further, as it does need to be expanded. I can't remember the Greek word for "tame klephts." The ones who were more organized were called αρματόλοι, weren't they? I think the "wild klephts" were just called αγριοί κλέφτες, but I can't remember.
