Kinsmen Field House

Kinsmen Field House is a multi-purpose sport and recreation facility located in Edmonton, Canada.

The facility was opened January 3, 1968 and provides year-round public facilities for sports and recreational activities. The Field House was intended to be the first phase of a multifaceted Kinsmen Village that would eventually include an Olympic-size Swimming Pool and an indoor/outdoor performing arts theatre.^[1] It was the first recreational facility of its kind in Canada and the only one in North America which is available to the general public.^[2]

The facility was enhanced with the addition of the Kinsmen Aquatic Center in 1978, which was built for the 1978 Commonwealth Games.^[3] Also added in 1992 was the Keltie Berne Fitness Center.^[2]

The Field House is now part of the Kinsmen Sports Centre and is owned by the City of Edmonton. It will be the competition site for World Masters Games diving, swimming, synchronized swimming and table tennis.^[3]

Kinsmen Field House has hosted several concerts by major musical artists, including Led Zeppelin (1969), Vanilla Fudge (1969), Frank Zappa (1971), Manfred Mann (1974), Kiss (1974), Bob Marley (1979), The Clash (1982), Billy Idol (1984) and Iron Maiden (1985).
