Kiev Conservatory

Tchaikovsky National Academy of Music (Kiev conservatory) is a Ukrainian state establishment of higher music education of the fourth category of accreditation.
The Kiev conservatory was founded in 1913 on the basis of the Kiev section of the music college of the Russian music Society. The organization of the conservatory was spearheaded by Sergei Rachmaninoff, Alexander Glazunov and Peter Tchaikovsky. The first director was V. Pukhalsky (1913) and Reinhold Gliere (1914 — 1920). In 1925 the lower years were separated from the Conservatory to form a music technical college, while the older classes became the Music-Drama Institute named after Mykola Lysenko.
In 1938 it received the order of Lenin award. In 1940 the conservatory received the name of P. Tchaikovsky. In 1995 the President of Ukraine gave the conservatory the status of the National Music Academy of Ukraine named after P. Tchaikovsky.
The building was built in the 1890's as the hotel "Continental". During the WWII it was destroyed. In 1955 the building was rebuilt and a concert hall was added (architects L. Katok and Ya. Krasny). It is located on Horodetsky street 1/3
