[edit] Overview

The main station building is not used, and access is instead via a side walk-way. The rundown buildings can give the impression that the station is closed. There was a campaign in 2004 to have the station renovated, but it came to nothing. The redevelopment of the nearby Lionel Road site may lead to some kind of overhaul of the station.

Between 1862 and 1940 there was another Kew Bridge station on the North & South Western Junction Railway in close proximity. The line it stood on remains today as a goods only route [1].

[edit] Proposals

Hounslow Council have proposed that the Hounslow Loop Line should be included in the Crossrail project. This would involve a spur off the Great Western Main Line, with trains running down the North London Line to South Acton and then over a connecting freight line just to the north of Kew Bridge station and then on to Brentford. Trains would not actually stop at Kew Bridge under the proposal, althrough it has been suggested a new station may be constructed in the vicinity [2].

[edit] Service

The typical off-peak service from the station is six trains per hour to London Waterloo — four direct via Putney and Clapham Junction, and two via Brentford and Richmond — and two trains per hour to Weybridge.
