Kevin Field

Kevin Field is an English conductor, currently resident in Kuala Lumpur where he is the Associate Conductor of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO). Born in Berkshire, Field's first experience as a musician was as a percussionist. For much of the 1990s he played in the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra (BSO). His conducting studies having included periods at London's Royal Academy of Music and the St Petersburg Conservatory, he established Kokoro, a contemporary music ensemble offshoot of the BSO.
Since his appointment as the Associate Conductor of the MPO in 1999 he has premiered more than 50 new compositions. He founded the MPO composer's forum, and is currently overseeing the birth pangs of a Malaysian Philharmonic Youth Orchestra.
