He had a varied professional playing career, rising from the non-league ranks to the Premiership and back again. As a striker he made league appearances for Lincoln City, Swindon Town, Stoke City, Norwich City, Bournemouth, Watford, Wycombe Wanderers, Reading and Colchester United before returning to non-league football. He played up front for Dover Athletic in the lower leagues later on in his career. In June 2005 he linked up with Northwood[1] in the role of player-coach. In November 2005 he moved on to coach Chesham United[2].

[edit] Managerial career

A UEFA 'A' and 'B' license holder, he was appointed Manager of Leighton Town[3] in October 2006. A shortage of players forced Scott to take to field against Dunstable Town in January 2007 in the unusual position of goalkeeper[4], a position he had never previously occupied. Scott met with success at Leighton. They were eleven points from safety at the bottom of the Southern League Division One Midlands when he was appointed[5] but he led them to safety and also to victory in the Buckingham Senior Charity Cup Final in May 2007[6]. In the 2007-2008 season, he steered the club to their most successful campaign in the FA Cup, reaching the Fourth Qualifying Round where they were defeated by Havant & Waterlooville[7]. In December 2007, Scott resigned his post[8] to take up the managerial reigns at Windsor & Eton.
